Meet David! David joined Electra Products in mid-May of this year in the role of Product Specialist. He is the Line Champion for Duraline, Eaton Crouse-Hinds, Eaton Wiring Devices, Picoma, Prime Conduit, and Western Tube.

David is originally from Puerto Rico. Since moving the States, he has lived in New Jersey, Florida, and now Indiana. He enjoys the drive from Indy to King’s Island, Ohio. The trees and hills remind him of his home, Puerto Rico.

Before joining Electra Products David worked as a debt collector. He said that was a rollercoaster each day, trying to help people and make tough decisions about their finances. “People would vent to me about their frustration, in a not-so-nice way. It helped me learn to be patient and understanding with the customer. I learned what I needed to help find the right plan for them. This experience helps me at Electra Products because although we sell lots of different products, the thing we really sell is service.”

When asked what is most challenging about working at Electra Products, David replied, “There is so much to learn. Each day is different and prioritizing work is key. But each time I research and learn a product, it keeps getting easier. The training happens daily, and the team always has my back when I need it. So far, I love learning the material and what it is used for.

What’s your most embarrassing moment at work? I’m the guy who burnt the mac and cheese because I placed a cap to stop it from splattering when I microwaved it. The office smelled like burnt mac and cheese the whole day.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I like to play basketball. I was a starting point guard in high school. There is a thrill when competing. Let me know if you want to play!

What’s an ability you wish you had? I wish I could teleport. I’d just travel the world. I love to learn about different cultures, especially the buildings, art, and music.

What would you like to be famous for? I love making music. I play with my family and friends and I can play by ear. I compose and write.

If you could drink one drink for the rest of your life, what would it be? My senses changed after I got COVID. The only thing that really tastes the same now is root beer. I’d drink Frostie Root Beer.
